Episode Recap:
WOmen and Pornography
Most people assume porn is a guy a thing. And while porn certainly does impact men, fantasy, desire, and longing, are not exclusive to men. Women long to be known as much as any man, just as women also desire intimacy and pleasure.
By assuming porn is a male issue, we’ve only forced women into a deeper sense of loneliness and shame. And while thousands of resources exist to help men, there are so very few that exist for women.
Allie joins us on the Naked Gospel podcast to share what it has been like to be a female with a porn addiction.
She shares her life story: the abuse she has experienced, her struggles with mental health, and her lonely, desperate struggle with pornography.
Allie also shares how Jesus has shown his affection and companionship to her in the hurt, shame, and confusion.
Allie is not a public speaker and she has never shared her story publicly like this. However, she asked to join us so that we could all learn from her life. We hope her story disciples all of us in the Way of Christ and that the ministry of the Church might be enriched by her courage and the courage of others like her.
